Apple Day is taking place at the Folk of Gloucester on October 19th, an annual free celebration of the county’s orchards and cider industry.
Visitors can watch the traditional horse-drawn cider press in action, or have a go on the apple bike.
This year, for the first time, members of the public are invited to bring in their own apples. These will be washed and added to the mix for people to crush themselves on the apple bike. If visitors bring their own container, they can take home an equivalent amount of apple juice to drink or make into cider.
Further highlights include:
- Over 30 varieties of apples to try not found in the shops
- One of the last surviving horse-drawn cider mills in the South West
- Morris dancing performances
- Traditional music and apple-based songs throughout the day
- Children’s activities
- Stalls from local makers and producers including Severn Cider
- Bar and café serving hot and cold drinks, lunch and snacks
