Shop Cotswolds visited the Cheltenham Science Festival on a windy, showery afternoon to catch up with Project Grow.
This is a social enterprise focused on urban community farming, working in partnership with local food initiatives across Gloucestershire to cultivate healthy, good food for all. Catching the eye of visitors to the festival, they laid on a very attractive display of vegetables and fruit in the centre of Imperial Gardens. Beautifully labelled and presented, a team of passionate experts were on hand to explain more. If you have time, nip along and visit the patch this weekend.
To fund their work growing good food for community food projects, Project Grow sells vegetable and herb plugs and plants, seasonal produce and products including Social Source via their six sites spread across Cheltenham and Gloucester.
Shop Cotswolds member Social Source cooks up a delicious range of handmade seasonal sauces and preserves, with all profits feeding back into the social impact work.
Last year there was a delicious Mulberry Dessert Sauce picked and made of mulberries from the Bishop of Gloucester’s garden and a Tomato and Basil pasta sauce grown at the Gloucestershire Heritage Hub by volunteers and made in the Wiggly Kitchen.
