New research from Visit West shows that the visitor economy in the west of England is now worth a record £2.46 billion.
The research which looked at the volume and value of the visitor economy in 2023 also showed that the sector supports almost 50,000 jobs.
The largest beneficiaries of visitor spend were found to be the retail sector (with an estimated £409 million) followed by food and drink businesses (£342 million) and accommodation (£200 million).
The research showed that inbound international visits to the region have seen a particular rise, growing by 21% to 957,000, just 14% behind the pre-pandemic record high in 2019. Bristol was listed as the seventh most visited destination by inbound visitors, while Bath came in 11th.
