Hardwicke Farm, in Gloucestershire, is a timeless place of traditionally rotated and farmed pasture intermingled with woodland, orchards and ancient hedgerows. It’s here that Jess makes Organic Kefir from the Ladies’ milk. As well as award-winning unhomogenised organic milk, they produce cream, luxurious natural yoghurt and cultured buttermilk.
Jess’s Grampy John Vaughan came to the farm in 1956 farming in a traditional, extensive way and working the land with horses. He brought with him his 3 cows, his ‘Ladies’. Always wanting to avoid intensive farming methods, Jess’s dad Mike continued his dad’s farming tradition before gaining official organic status in 2000.
Most recently Jess’s Ladies Organic Kefir became the only kefir anywhere in the world to win 3 stars in the Great Taste Awards 2022. All their products have won stars over the past 15 years. They have multiple 3-star products and their natural yoghurt is in the World Top 50 food listings. Having their produce tasted and celebrated by some of the biggest names in the culinary world to win the Guardian and Observer OFM BEST PRODUCER AWARD 2019 was a huge privilege for their small herd of 70 ladies.
