The Festival History Loaf

The Forest Bakehouse on the edge of the Forest of Dean has created a new bread the Gloucester History Festival Loaf which will be unveiled this weekend.

The new loaf will be on sale for the first time at the Gloucester History Festival Spring Weekend in Blackfriars Priory.

It is a sourdough loaf made with organic flour from Cotswolds based Shipton Mill, near Tetbury, then enriched with Double Gloucester cheese from Smart’s Farm who supplies the cheese annually for the well-known Cheese Rolling competition on Cooper’s Hill. The loaf also includes red onions inspired by the original 14th century Newent Onion Fayre.

The Forest Bakehouse is an award-winning co-operative bakery started in 2013.
