A free webinar from solicitors Roythornes is being offered on April 18th to investigate the current use of “green claims and food products”.
There has been a rapid increase in the application and use of eco-labels and claims by food and drink businesses that their products are ‘environmentally friendly’. Both consumer pressures and retailer strategies have forced many food manufacturers to rethink their recent promotional strategies. However, the danger of ‘greenwashing’ is never far away, and new guidelines mean that manufacturers need to take more care about claims they make.
The Competition and Marketing Authority’s ‘Green Claims Code’ is already in existence and regulation could well follow. With potentially much stronger enforcement measures on the way, food manufacturers need to be working now on their claims and ensuring their supply chains are as compliant as they are.
The webinar will offer practical examples and guidance and will also cover:
- A look into what could be a more regulated future in relation to ‘green’ claims and food products.
- What the Green Claims Code says about food and drink products
- What powers the CMA already has over food businesses
- Anticipated shifts in the regulatory landscape
