Worcestershire Tourism Surges to New Levels

Following the launch of Visit Worcestershire’s Destination Management Plan in 2024, the county has exceeded the £1 billion mark in a totally new category for the region, tourism revenue.

The latest figures show a 9% increase compared to 2023, confirming tourism as one of the fastest-growing and most vital sectors for Worcestershire’s economy.

In a year that saw many areas of the UK experience declines in tourism, Worcestershire bucked the trend with a 12% increase in overnight stays. This exceptional growth is in stark contrast to national figures, where England and Great Britain recorded a 10% drop in domestic overnight trips.

Also, visitors to Worcestershire aren’t just staying longer, they’re also spending more. In 2024, the average number of nights spent in the county increased by 6%, bringing a significant boost to the local economy, including spending on food and drink.

One of the key components of Worcestershire’s strategy is promoting its food and drink offerings, particularly through events like Taste Worcestershire. By spotlighting the region’s culinary offerings, Visit Worcestershire hopes to draw more visitors interested in exploring the county’s vibrant food culture and supporting its local producers.
