The Bristol Good Food 2025-2027 Action Plans have been published this week. These mark the next stage in the city’s aim to build a more sustainable, equitable and resilient food system.
Each plan focuses on a key theme within the food system – from reducing waste and supporting nature-friendly growing, to improving access to good food and helping independent food businesses to thrive.
The Local Food Economy – Infrastructure 2025-27 Action Plan Infrastructure is one sub-theme of the Local Food Economy theme, focusing on the systems that enable sustainable food to be produced, distributed and accessed across the city. This includes supporting local food businesses to start up, stay open and grow sustainably.
The Local Food Economy – Procurement 2025-27 Action Plan Procurement is the other sub-theme with significant potential to support local, sustainable food systems and strengthen supply chains across the region. This Action Plan focuses on: strengthening public sector collaboration to grow values-based, sustainable food procurement, creating more opportunities for local producers, wholesalers and buyers to connect, supporting buyers to use local-friendly frameworks and shorten supply chains and showcasing good practice and sharing stories that inspire change across the city.
