UK Apple Orchards Under Threat

As reported by FreshTalk Daily, many UK apple growers are being forced to cut down their apple orchards as conditions become more challenging.  This includes a number of factors, for example, unpredictable climactic conditions, inflation and lack of staff.

The UK at present imports around 85% of its fruit requirements on an annual basis. If more growers look to cut production, that share could increase, resulting in higher import dependency and increased vulnerability to supply shocks.
